Drilling works are the most recent service AES has added to the number of civil and remedial services we are offering. We specialise in Environmental and Geotechnical drilling, as well as Drilling for Site Investigation needs. AES offers a range services that can be carried out during the Site Investigation process. Here at AES we understand the importance of ensuring your site is fit for your project to avoid any unnecessary delays or risks.
We are offering a new scope of services for our site investigations, including:
- Environmental Drilling for soil and ground water samples
- Analysis of samples to determine contamination
- Assessment of contamination spread
- Excavation and disposal of contaminated soil
- Soil remediation works
- Geotechnical Drilling for land assessment and soil analysis
What is Environmental Drilling?
Environmental Drilling is an essential process on land development and/or construction sites, as it allows us to monitor the conditions of the subsurface by taking samples from the ground. These samples are taken from the ground using specialised drilling equipment to reach depths of up to 4 meters. This means we get a throughout sample of the ground and can identify soil or groundwater contamination, even if it is not visible from the surface. The drilling also allows us to determine the location and extent of the contamination, for more efficient remediation works. Through identifying any contamination of soil or groundwater, we are able to determine if any further remediation work is necessary and if the environment is suitable for the undertaking of tasks such as construction or mining. Environmental Drilling is also used to guide the development of monitoring or remediation plans, and significantly reduces the risk of environmental issues of contamination and addresses any problems within the subsurface before they become a major issue.
What is Geotechnical Drilling?
Geotechnical Drilling involves a similar process with the collection of samples, but is more relevant for construction planning as well as assessing the stability of the land for activities such as mining. Geotechnical Drilling primarily collects soil samples to assess the subsurface for the purposes of planning for construction. These samples allow engineers and construction teams to determine the makeup of the land and whether it is suitable for the project they are working on. This is especially crucial for projects such as roadways, tunnels, bridges, and large buildings, where the land must be stable enough to withstand the weight of these long-lasting constructions.
Both forms of Drilling can also be used as part of a wider Site Investigation. As the name suggest, site investigation involves examining a potential site prior to conducting works to determine any potential risks or problems that could occur. It is also essential to developing project designs and construction plans to ensure the most safe, sustainable and efficient methods are used.
